Coming Soon! 2017 Rate Information for AARP® Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
The rate change announcement for AARP® Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans, insured by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, is quickly approaching!
Watch for Detailed 2017 Rate Information!
Beginning in September, 2017 rate information will be announced via state-specific communications emailed directly to agents certified to offer AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans in certain states. This is a process designed to help get the word out about 2017 rates. State-specific rate information will also be announced in Focus News, monthly, as well as posted on the Distribution Portal, as the information is finalized.
Reminders for 2017:
- State-specific communications will include the rate change percentage for each plan in that state, as well as when rates are effective*
- 2017 rate information will be distributed via email. It will also be included in the Focus News and posted on the Distribution Portal [Product Information and Materials > Product Information > Medicare Supplement > Rates and Underwriting > 2017 Annual Rate Change] shortly after the state-specific communication is released
- 2017 billing materials will be mailed to insured members beginning in September (except for Massachusetts residents)
Updated Enrollment Materials
If you begin to write business with 2017 plan effective dates, and the 2017 AARP® Medicare Supplement enrollment kits are not yet available, please continue to use 2016 enrollment kits until 2017 enrollment materials become available and remind consumers that rates may change in 2017. Note: Enrollment kits are available for you to order from the Sales Materials portal. You do not need to pre-order enrollment kits.
You should continue to collect 2016 premium amounts until 2017 rates are finalized and communicated to you. Insured members will be billed or credited for any difference, if applicable. (Remember, in many states, 2017 rates will not be effective until April 1, 2017. These states will be identified in state-specific communications).
It is important to notify consumers that AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans will cover any changes in Medicare copayments and deductibles for 2017.
*Rate changes vary by state and plan.
