Only one month remains until WAPCON 2025, taking place on September 8-9 in Fort McDowell, Arizona. This will be the 10th annual WAPCON Conference, and it’s one of the best ways Medicare agents can get ready for AEP and boost their health, wealth and life insurance knowledge and proficiency.
A 10-Year Tradition
Medicare insurance agents need a reliable way to stay up-to-date on new trends, refine their skills, and network with industry experts. WAPCON is the perfect way to get all of this done in two days ahead of the busy Annual Election Period – and to have fun doing it. Over the past decade, WAPCON has become known as THE premier event for agents who sell Medicare plans.
WAPCON 2025 will be held at the beautiful Wa-Ko-Pa Resort in Fort McDowell, Arizona – you may recognize that as the same location as last year’s event. This year’s theme is The Greatest Show in Medicare, and attendees can look forward to a fun and festive atmosphere.
What to Do at WAPCON 2025
There will be lots to do, so you’ll need to use your time wisely. Plan to arrive early so you can relax and get situated before the agenda begins. You don’t want to be stuck in traffic or trying to find a parking spot when everyone else is already inside having fun.
You may not have time to see everything, so identify your goals for the conference and set your priorities accordingly. Watch for the WAP Events App (coming soon to Apple and Google Play) to access the agenda, schedule, and carrier resources.
Here are some key highlights to include in your schedule:
- Carrier rollouts. This year, carrier rollouts will be shorter, more efficient, and to the point, giving attendees more time to focus on other great resources at the conference.
- Keynote speakers. This year’s announcement of two of our keynote speakers includes George Dippel, President of Deft Research, and Jack Burns, Social Security’s Public Affairs Specialist for Arizona. They will share some amazing insights, so you don’t want to miss these presentations. Watch for more keynote speaker announcements coming soon.
- Vendor exhibits. Vendor exhibits offer you a chance to network and learn more about the industry. You might find the tools you need to make your job easier.
- Social events. Socialization is half the fun of an in-person conference. Build friendships with other agents and forge professional connections with carrier representatives, centers of influence, and others. Don’t be shy about introducing yourself.
How to Get the Most From Your WAPCON Experience
WAPCON is jam-packed with activities, training, and great resources. If you plan your time well, you will leave this event with the knowledge you need for a successful AEP. Below are some quick tips to optimize your experience:
- Dress for success. Dress professionally and comfortably. You’ll be hurrying from one session to the next, and you don’t want anything to slow you down. Wear layers so you won’t be too hot or cold and choose comfortable shoes. You can also bring a (tasteful) festive costume to go with The Greatest Show in Medicare theme if you wish. This conference is for you, so have some fun.
- Stay fueled. Pack a water bottle for hydration and bring any medications, snacks or personal care items you’ll need.
- Have a connection strategy. You can either share business cards, or use your phone to swap contact information. If you plan to use your phone, make sure you have the right settings activated and practice your contact swap skills ahead of the event.
- Prepare to make lasting contacts. Create an easy way to find/reference your new connections when you return to the office. Consider jotting a quick note on the back of each business card or in the notes section of each contact screen. Also, use your LinkedIn app to make an instant connection.
- Capture important information. Determine the best notetaking strategy for you. You may be able to use your phone’s Voice Memo app to record the sessions. Some apps even provide written transcripts of voice recordings. Or you can bring a pen and paper, or a laptop or tablet for notetaking. Be prepared to receive handouts during your sessions.
- Bring your device chargers. In addition to your devices (laptop, phone, and/or tablet), remember to bring your chargers.
- Prepare questions. Jot down your questions ahead of time so you won’t forget.
- Secure your belongings. Don’t leave your bag unattended. Also, public Wi-Fi is not secure, so consider using your phone as a hotspot for your internet needs.
- Be polite. Show up on time, listen respectfully, and remember to turn your phone to silent/airplane mode so you don’t distract others.
- Post to social media. We love WAPCON buzz! Post your photos and tag your colleagues during the event. Use #WAPCON2025. Those who post using this hashtag on September 8-9 will be entered into a contest to win a $100 Amazon gift card.
One more thing – don’t forget to save your spot. This popular event is expected to sell out, so we recommend reserving your ticket early. Register today!
